This Is What You Need to Know About the Rare Black Moon

Prepare yourself for a rare lunar treat this Friday! A rare black moon will rise over our skies on Sept. 30 and we won't see it again until 2019.

A black moon event occurs when a second new moon happens in a month, according to AccuWeather. Since it's a new moon, you won't see much because of the "position of the Sun, Earth, and Moon," reports CBS. If you miss this one, the next one will occur in July 2019. Interested in learning more about the black moon? You can watch Slooh livestream the new moon on Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. EDT, as the moon is slightly more visible than on Sept. 30.
